TL;DR
Google has introduced a new universal Gemini agent that can complete multi-step tasks across apps without constant user input.
The agent works with Google Workspace, Slack, and Microsoft 365, maintains context across devices, and can use specialized AI sub-agents.
It’s currently available only to enterprise customers in private preview, with no word on a wider consumer release.
AI tools have become pretty good at helping us get things done, but we still have a lot of work to do ourselves. Sure, Gemini can summarize a lengthy email thread, help draft a document, or pull information from a spreadsheet. But what if you could tell it what you want to accomplish and let it handle the rest?
That’s pretty much what Google is working toward with its latest announcement. At Gemini at Work 2026, Google Cloud introduced a new Gemini agent that can take on entire tasks, work across different apps, and deliver finished results without requiring you to guide it through every step.
