Samsung is reportedly considering using an Exynos 2700 on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Samsung’s internal testing shows the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 runs too hot and throttles.
Both companies are working on solving these issues, but the schedule is tight.
Update, October 16, 2026 (5:51 PM ET): Unsurprisingly, Qualcomm has taken issue with the Seoul Economic Daily’s report, and does not believe that its chips are experiencing the performance issues described within. A company spokesperson has reached out to Android Authority with a statement:
Recent reporting about thermal issues related to Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is inaccurate. We are proud of the innovation and strong momentum behind our next-generation flagship platform and continue to work closely with global OEMs to deliver premium user experiences.

TL;DR Chinese regulatory filings suggest the Galaxy S27 Plus could drop UWB, a feature Plus models have offered since the S21 Plus.

I never thought I’d say this, but Google Keep has something Samsung Notes doesn’t, and I don’t see Samsung matching it anytime soon. Yes, Gemini has made its way into Keep, and while I’m not a fan of it showing up in every single Google app (looking at you, Messages and YouTube), I’ve genuinely grown to like it inside Keep. So much so that it made me ditch Samsung Notes, an app that had been untouchable in my book for years.
Samsung Notes has a lot going for it
Open source articleandroidauthority.comI’m the Shallow Hal of Android fandom. I wouldn’t touch certain Android phones with a ten-foot pole if they have a specific trait I don’t like.
I’m not talking about smartphones with overwhelmingly negative reviews. In fact, there are a few poorly reviewed products I take a fancy to. I’m referring to smartphones that have one or two deal-breakers, in spite of their positive first impressions. It could be as trivial as a missing feature, or more unforgivable like a substantial price hike. Whichever it may be, I’d rather save my money for something else.
